The Buddha practised severe physical austerities. Finally realized that this was not the path. Then delved into his inner self. Came out a realized person. This is what we need to do- go within.

we all start with the asanas as a first step and we all know that is not enough. But what is the way to go within?
There is no "way". We have to watch ourselves - our thoughts, actions etc and make ourselves purer and purer as we remove negative and unnecessary vibrations. This removal make the pure inner self shine forth. Sri Sathya Sai Baba says " you are 3 persons- the one others think you are, the one you think you are , the one you really are! ". The one other think we are is a put on, the on we think we are is how we cheat ourselves, the one we really are is the divine atman. We need to have integrity of thought word and deed to reach that state. Baba says no sadhana is needed-" be good see good do good! Start the day with love, fill the day with love and end the day with love- this is the way to God!"
