Surrender is really yoga

Mostly , as yoga practitioners we focus on hatha yoga which is not really enough. We need to focus on our inner selves- that is really yoga. Surrender is really yoga- not surrender of the body to the asana but surrdner of the mind to the Divine power.

So, in a way, practicing yoga helps us to get out of our own way?

Anonymous- could you kindly clarify this a little more?

You could not have hit the nail on the head better! This is the most important part of yoga that we neglect and we need to focus on this in our daily lives even if we dont do the asanas.

For me, yoga began with asana (as excercise) and over time it became a journey of self-discovery and a path of devotion.

Well said Rosa. We begin somewhere- but ultimately we should move upwards and not stop at the level of the asana- else Patanjali would not have given 8 steps. Asanas are only a stepping stone to keep the body fit for our journey in life.
